So I finished another $500 box of halves and for the 4th consecutive time, zero silver. The bad part is that one of the rolls had a penny in it, so it was a coin short. Just venting, I had some beginner's luck that hooked me in, but I am starting to lose my passion for ordering boxes.

I hear ya, and I feel your pain. A couple boxes ago I was straight out shorted out of 7 halves. From the same roll! Not even a penny in exchange. Guess those guys that load these up just don't care, huh? Keep trying, but maybe try a different bank to mix things up. Or yeah, try nickels. Those are always fun. I'm definitely not getting at least one silver in a box! Your luck may vary. But whatever you do, don't dump into my area! Don't you wish there was a way to make the halves you search not go back into circulation? (aside from having a basement full of halves, that is) But I guess thats why the silver is still out there for us to find. Ahh, the joys, pains, and challenges of being a roll miner. Now where did I put my hard hat with the built in candle...

we all need to spend say 10% of our hunt in stores. It stops so many from being shipped back to the main vault.
I don't think banks ship out in less than full boxes (2 boxes of pennies). So if you dump only $450 in halves, they will stay there. The next dump might get them to ship $500 off, but they will still have $400.
Plus, I think you will have a few cashiers say..I dont see those every day. I will keep one or two---coin removed from the system.
Spend them! :)

I feel your pain. I did 2 boxes back in January and only managed 3 40% halves. I found out another guy was searching these at the same branch and noticed some coins that had been marked. It's a numbers game, though, so the key is to keep at it. With the economy the way it is, people are more likely to turn in old collections for face values to banks, so you may strike it rich one of these days. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. It is also nice to see I am not the only one running into a slump.
I started off on fire. The bank I started at had bank wrapped rolls. The funny thing was that the rolls were faded like they were there for a long time. Each roll had on average 5 silver in it. Some 40% some 90% 2 Franklins. I took all 40 rolls and now reality is setting in, since I am ordering new boxes.
I guess I have to find another bank that time forgot...

So I jumped back on the saddle today... I found a bank that had 20 customer wrapped rolls. When I got out to the car I noticed that on of the rolls had 1964 Kennedy written on it and another had Liberty Head written on it. So my palms started to sweat and and opened them before I left the parking lot. Nothing So I waited to get home for the rest. Two rolls out of the 20 had a total of 21 40% in them so it was not even close to a disappointment. But I thought I hit the lottery with a full roll of 64s and a roll of barbers. Maybe next time

I found about 130 coins today doing drive bys :)
I found a 64 and 2 40%. I am cool with getting silver, but I want Bens :). I think more people know they are silver...so they don't get mixed in as much.

i cannot get a bank for the life of me to order halves for me. I'm getting a little frustrated because banks are suppose to help the hobby of coin collectors not shut em down. I had a good week last week with halves. One bank had 6 rolls and 3 out of the 6 rolls were 40-90%ers.
