You can't really blame the RCM for putting out this USS Enterprise shaped coin when people keep buying this type of coin. Just look at the last unusual shaped Star Trek coin: the gold Delta Shaped coin. People went crazy for that coin, resulting in a quick sell-out. They raved on and on about how that coin will hit $3000 because there were so many Star Trek fans out there. It turns out not to be the case. You could buy it for less than issue price now. The Mint thought if the Delta shaped coin did so well, why not a star ship shape coin. |
