English Decimal Penny Dated 1066! - Coin Community Forum

The town of Battle in East Sussex grew up in the Middle Ages around an abbey founded by William the Conqueror on the site of the so-called Battle of Hastings, actually fought several miles inland from Hastings. The victory of the Normans changed the direction of English history forever. In Battle there was a museum called "Yesterday's World" (it closed about 18 months ago), and that's where I smashed this penny. The '1066' logo with the arrow is used by tourist attractions in the area to promote what they call the '1066 Country'.
