NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 19252 Posts	Posted 10/17/2017 03:23 am I have an English decimal penny dated 1066! The town of Battle in East Sussex grew up in the Middle Ages around an abbey founded by William the Conqueror on the site of the so-called Battle of Hastings, actually fought several miles inland from Hastings. The victory of the Normans changed the direction of English history forever. In Battle there was a museum called "Yesterday's World" (it closed about 18 months ago), and that's where I smashed this penny. The '1066' logo with the arrow is used by tourist attractions in the area to promote what they call the '1066 Country'. Coconutjoe Pillar of the Community United States 1475 Posts	Posted 10/17/2017 11:08 am I also try to make one. Few months ago on way to Grand Canyon, I stopped by a gas station which had the machine. I cranked one out. Costs 50 cents and a penny. BTW, is this illegal to use US penny to make one? Report this Post to the Staff

oriole Pillar of the Community Canada 5300 Posts	Posted 10/17/2017 12:03 pm I have seen those machines in museums in Philadelphia. If it were illegal, I am sure that it would have been stopped by now. Report this Post to the Staff
