I check in tonight after a long work weekend ... and am faced with the 'welcome guest' page.

Unable to remember my password ... so had to use Bobby/Sue tremendous password reset method.

Seems like this happens about once a year to me ... wondering why the log-in expiration ... and if there is anything I can do to prevent it?

Perhaps my personal MacBook settings?

David

The cookie setting is 365 days which is waaaaaaayyyyyy longer than 99% of other sites on the Internet. I belong to sites that expire in 6 hours. Logging in once a year is really a hassle for you?

Got it Bobby ... no worries.

Now I know what to expect ... renew the log-in once a year ... did not know why the log-in expired prior to your kind reply.

I'm amazed that my old brain recalled the approximate once a year log-in requirement ... and truly appreciative of all that you do for all of us at the CCF.

Believe I have made that known by my comments on this forum ... and my 'Big Supporter' badge.

This is without doubt the best of all internet coin forums ... and I salute all of you do to make the magic happen.

Best - David

I too have had this happen about once a year even though I'm here every day. Minor glitch, takes thirty seconds to correct. Don't give it a second thought.

During one work day, I have to login to five different systems that time-out after 15 minutes of not being active. So CCF's 1 year login is a blessing to me.

EDIT - those expire after 6 weeks and you have to think of a new unique password

I've been a member since 2006 and can't recall ever having to log in again. I wonder if that's because I never logout.

I have my browser save such things (no, I don't delete cookies either, so sue me) so my required re-login activity is limited (here) to the ludicrously-unsecure full year CCF requires. I would much prefer - like any other site with reasonable security - to be forced to change my password and relogin at least a couple times a year. If I used more reasonable and secure browser settings, I wouldn't have that luxury.

Yes, I get that this is "merely" an Internet forum and not a bank, but we're not going to be able to make inroads against the prevalence of hacking until the user community begins understanding and reacting to the fact that there's no place on the Internet which qualifies as "safe."

Now, when it expires, you REALLY won't remember your password.
