I bought this interesting 1835 8 Reales Zacatecas as one of the millennium coins.

It looks so weird since it is only 25.87g and diameter is 37.68mm, thickness 2.50mm. The most weird part is that has Reverse edge. Then I thought it must be a fake one until I read swamperbob's comments on this thread http://goccf.com/t/99996&SearchTerms=1835,8r

SG test result around 10.1 , not accurate , first time to do it.

The image showing it has double strike on on "835" and "O", dot , "M" as well.

Any idea about this interesting coin, fake or

Silver in its most oxidized state is black. So the alloy without XRF analysis is probably a debased silver alloy with copper.

I detail this phenomenon on many types in my upcoming book - "Forgotten Coins."

Just curious - what's a "millennium coin"?
