There are many minor variations listed in my old Krause generally $15-$50. For real prices check auctions. ebay is good for sold prices, not still asking after 2 years.

For a change I believe this could be a genuine coin. This looks like it has been cleaned however is much scarcer than what many think. Weight range is within what a genuine coin is supposed to be. Would like a photo of the edge.

I would like to know what made people think it's not genuine. Just because it's Chinese does not automatically mean that it's not genuine.

This is my coin as a reference:

7.2-Candareens-An-Hwei-:-Value

While the examples sold on ebay are not genuine, this could be worth a fair bit if it is proven to be genuine. Price could hit within 100 - 200 USD. This coin is quite uncommon despite catalog value.

most parts concern me are the two characters at the bottom on the face and tail on the rev.

found two images for this type of coin on the internet for your reference.

photos of the edge will be help to get more info.

again, not expertise on this type coin at all, would like to learn from others.

Can you please post a whole picture of the coin instead of just small sections?

Wear looks genuine but a few Chinese characters look mushy. Unless offered to me by a trustworthy source I'd give it a miss.

There are lots of counterfeited coins from China for this kind.
The oppinion expressed here about fake are based on the Chinese letter very bad defined.
The probability, as mentioned in the first sentence is pretty high.

I've used that EXACT line in bars... I say "Bonjour!" rather than "Hi" for that authentic touch. Once inebriation starts steering it into Cajun Man territory, though... the jig is up.

Anyway, the coin: looks wholesome enough to my eyes. As gxseries said, in the $100-something range if genuine in that grade. However, this:

While the examples sold on ebay are not genuine...

is perhaps too sweeping a dammnation. In fact, I specifically recall a legit-looking An-Hwei specimen on ebay (actually also out of France) several months back that I was considering. I can't find the listing now (think it sold a while back) - is this coin it?

Then these are these... plus a 5 cent that looked fine:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1897-China...152664817966
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ND-China-A...332364093051
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1897-China...272906058857
https://www.ebay.com/itm/China-Anhw...142512876251

Not to say that ebay isn't full of Chinese... Chinese fakes. This thing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Dra...263185358927

...it would appear everything he sells is bogus (a good chunk of it should be obvious if you have your antennae up). 4000+ FB, 100% - sheesh.
