ebay feedback has a new look and this looks new as well...

"You need to wait 7 days before you can leave neutral or negative feedback for this PowerSeller."

The 7-day hold has been there for a while.

When negative feedback is called for, I can be very patient.

This is the first time I have seen this 7-day hold. If the feedback is warranted then I don't think the hold is necessary.

If negative feedback is not warranted, the hold can act as a cooling-off period. From ebay's perspective, there's no way to tell the difference, so it kind of makes sense. I'll still leave negative feedback if it's warranted, but it might not be as harsh.
Rest in Peace

Protection for the power players. You can nail a regular seller with a neg five minutes after you pay.

The good old days when sellers could warn against bad buyers seems long long ago.

Umm. Try telling that to a consistently top notch seller who offers great customer service. Then some moron comes along who can barely use a computer and leaves negative feedback. Also, how would ebay know that "the feedback is warranted"?

I think it is a good idea. It encourages the buyer to give the seller a fair chance to correct the problems.

If only they would allow sellers to leave buyers negative feedback as they used to. Sellers need to be aware of abusive buyers so that they can proactively block them from making offers on their items.

I had one person recently buy and pay for a roll of Jefferson nickels. He then bought three rolls of other dates, and then advised me via a message that he was interested in six other rolls. It would've ended up being a transaction in the neighborhood of $50. He assumed that my shipping and handling costs would be the same as for a Small Flat Rate box ($7.15)... When I advised him that I graduate my shipping and handling costs to help cover my ebay and Paypal costs as per my terms and conditions, and that it would run more like $10.99 for shipping and handling, he suddenly changed his tune, and said that he "couldn't afford" to buy all of them at the moment. So I said "fine, I can give you some extra time." And of course, I don't hear back from him... then I see that he canceled the three rolls he hadn't paid for yet four days after he bought them. So I then contact him to ask what is up. He tells me he's no longer interested in any of the rolls. Needless to say, by this time, more than 5 days had passed since I had printed the original mailing label with the $3-ish postage. It's non-refundable after the 5 days. So, my only choices were either to send him the roll or keep the roll without issuing a refund. So I sent him the roll, and advised him (I even checked with the Post Office) that it was too late to cancel it. My terms and conditions also state very clearly "All sales final" and refunds are only offered in the instance where I shipped an incorrect item. So what happens next? He opens up a return and claimed he "ordered wrong roll." Thankfully, I was able to close the return right away. I did contact ebay several times regarding this buyer... and I now fear he may try to leave me negative feedback, even though I did nothing wrong.

By the way, I rarely use feedback scores as a barometer due to the fact that sellers can't leave buyers negative feedback under the current system. That said, he has a low score of 98.3% due to bad experiences three buyers had with him.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
