I asked him how much it would take for him to pull the listing and post it as a buy it now. He said he would do it for six grand.

If we can assume it's genuine, six grand would have been a deal worth jumping at. That's less than the most recent sale of an F12 example of B-1.

It's honestly scary how dumb/greedy people on ebay are. Even if you are to assume this coin is legit, shouldn't one expect the coin to be problematic at the very least?

These bidders have to be operating under the assumption that the coin will grade straight.

Oh well, I was wrong about the selling price. Props to the seller!

It's not unique to ebay or coins. People think they're going to get some great deal they can make/save money on and get greedy and blinded.

My point about ebay was specific to ebay. I can sort of understand this blind greed if you're purchasing from a reputable source like Heritage or elsewhere (I must admin I've been guilty of that myself on more than one occasion). But on ebay? I feel one will have better luck sticking his hand into a barrel full of scorpions and wildly stirring for an hour and not getting stung...

The bidders clearly understand something I do not.

There's alot of people out there with more money than brains. The seller must be giddy at this point. Rarely have I seen a cracked out coin go for double what it sold for in the slab.

Ain't that the truth.

Interestingly, these people seem to all vanish when I try to sell something

If I were a betting man, I'd say he inherited these coins. I wish these were in my collection.
