This coin gave me my first woodie compliments of Col. E.H.R. Green! I kept looking and looking at it and there was just something about it that I couldn't resist.
Excellent!

The Heritage Auction proves that the Eric Newman coins DO get a premium,

They got a premium at the auction, but how well will they hold that premium a couple years from now? Oh I would not be surprised if they always command a premium, but percentagewise they are probably at their maximum premium at the auction.

I picked up an ex col green ex Newman coin a few months ago on great collections. Overpaid a little for it but got like a 30% discount from the original sale. I'll post a picture later. My observation is the premium definitely drops after the initial sale. This can be attributed to all the marketing and large number of well heeled collectors at the first offering. At resale, those same market conditions don't always exist. Of course, if you see one you like there's no guarantee it'll show up for sale again anytime soon !

RIP Eric Newman
Eric Pfeiffer Newman (May 25, 1911 - November 15, 2017) was an American numismatist. He wrote several "works about early American coins and paper money considered the standards on their subjects", as well as hundreds of articles. Newman sold his coins over five auctions in 2013-2014 for almost $55 million.

Wow. We were just debating whether or not he was still alive. RIP but I'm sure at 106 he was ready to check out. He's in a better place.
