Wow is right! No doubt about that being attributed to the CSA with that reverse.....and floating around in circulation too, mind boggling.

I wonder what Jubilation T. Cornpone would have thought that?

It was remarkable enough that the HA auctioneer at last nights session spent a couple of minutes during the auction to talk about it. It was exciting as it started after all pre-bidding was done at only around $200K. There were 3 floor bidders and two people online. I can recall a million dollar Half Disme that ended with 1 bid, this was much more active.

If you had the bucks you wouldn't go down easy if you were bidding on this one.
One of those once in a lifetime opportunities.

Short lifetime. This is the second or third one to sell in the past 20 years.
I will admit though that that is unusual. Before that you do have to go back a long time.

Probably won't be seeing that one again for decades, Legend bought it for a history buff collector.

Sorry to come in so late here, but wanted to thank Dorado for the link. Some other interesting links at that page, including the one to the whole collection, which is a delight. Many good photographs of beautiful and interesting coins, and a good opportunity to ponder NGC grading distinctions. https://www.NGCcoin.com/gallery/newman/

The originals are a tad out of my price range. I found the below, apparently cast replica for my Civil War collection at a show, some years ago. I suspect that it dates to the mid-1960's, as it lacks the word COPY. I've yet to stumble across another one in my travels ...

I would snag one like you did in a heart beat if I came across it

I'm satisfied with having one of the Union design 1861 O Seated halves that the CSA struck
