Clearly Post Strike Damage and worth 25 cents yet thought it would be interesting. You can see the minimum three horizontal imprints of something that bent the coin. YET, this is "US Modern Variety and Error Coins" I'm learning that many Post Strike/Mintage Damage coins are not considered ERROR coins. So, for this forum, I could not find a definition of "Variety" Seasoned members, please advise what Variety is and whether a posting such as this is of interest here or should be in another forum or not at all. Thank you, just trying to learn the rules.

It looks like a vice or a plier teeth damage. you are correct, whatever the cause maybe, it is a PMD.

Certainly PMD and not a variety. One of many forgettable reverses in the State Quarter series.

Varieties are when there are small (often microscopic) changes to the die design. This can be from a mistake, like the 1955 DD cent, or on purpose to change/improve the design or coin composition, like the 1913 Buffalo nickel mounds that were removed to prevent excessive wear.

Thanks for the explanation of varieties and the website where the collar clash was explained is incredible as a resource for me to use! Thanks! On the collar clash though, from the site explanation the pictures of the coins with it, didn't show anything to me. I added two close ups out of the holder and the one of the edge of the coin seems to possibly match the explanation of collar clash. The notes on the holder from my uncle says "Bank Rolled Bent" Not sure if the means it came out of a bank roll or that some machine that rolls coins bent it.

Just noticed the mark on the last image. Looks like PSD (Post-Strike-Damage). By what? Probably something circular rolled or by vise grips or plyers if the other side is affected? It does look wierd, but the devices are pressed downward. The distortion on the 'K' shows the metal was moved after the strike.

Thanks! I completely agree PSD that actually bent the coin. Worth a quarter at least and an interesting anomaly.

Taking a second look, the area I was seeing as a collar clash is really the edge reeds inside the 2X2. Best to take coins out of the 2X2 when taking images. Weird stuff happens sometimes.
