I have been away from collecting anything numismatic for a couple years now, and was wondering what common date Morgan dollars in VG can be purchased for at your local coin shop or coin show. I will be going to a large show at the end of the month and would like to pick up some Morgans, mainly for the silver, but also to get some numismatic value along with it. Thanks!

Try finding a local silver & gold buyer, I've had much more success with them, than coin stores.

Should be able to buy from a specialist bullion dealer for closer to melt value.

@jmgi, I do not think that is fair to this forum to give what appears to be sarcastic complaint for the lack of responses.

Considering when you posted your request, a lot of people may have finished for the evening. Please have some patience and consideration when you are asking for free information from people you do not know.

The subject of Morgan dollar prices has come up multiple times. The general consensus is that common circulated Morgans can easily be obtained for a slight premium over the silver value, perhaps 20%-30%. Sometimes they can be obtained at melt. Any large coin show or coin shop in the US will have somebody selling them, as there are millions available. There are price guides readily available which identify the common ones.

Rest in Peace

I would imagine there will be several tables at a large show with circulated Morgans for sale. I would think the low $20's but keep in mind, they have to cover the cost of the show. Walk the floor and scope out the possibilities before you buy any.

The more you buy at one time, the better the price will be.

Especially if you catch someone with hundreds or thousands of them.

I can't imagine a single coin shop without several of them.
