Hi. I'm new to this forum also with a 2001 New York State Quarter with an interesting double die on obverse. I searched through a lot of coins that I'd been saving from pocket change and found several of them with doubling in letters and dates. I did some research on all the different types of doubling on coins. Most of my coins I was able to identify them as " Die Deterioration Doubling" since doubling showed flat. To me this quarter appears to have hub doubling on the obverse on most letters. The doubling is rounded and raised instead of being flat like the other coins I found. The pictures were taken from my phone and doesn't give as much detail as seen in person. I used flash on most to show more details. Tell me what you think. Thank you.

What you are seeing on the motto is Die Deterioration. Note the affect devices are flowing towards the closest rim. (To the right) The die is showing its age. Note the mushy fields. It is in the LDS when your coin was struck. Note the die crack on the neck. Another sign the die is aging. But will probably used a long time more before retirement.

Thanks you very much for responding and the information. I also found a silver color 1983 D Lincoln Cent. I'm not sure if it's silver or unplated type. Do you have knowledge on these type? Thank you.

Here is what an unplated cent would look like:

Note the top center image, the coin is an unplated example. Note the cart wheels on that coin? Most of the ones found in circulation are rough finished. That is because they added the coating over the surface of a plated coin:

Note the copper showing on the rim of the coin.
There are youtube videos on how to do this. So it if has been out there this long, it is probably a fake.

Here's pics of my 1983 D Unplated Lincoln Cent found in pocket change. At first glance I thought it was a 1943 steel cent.
