Something is wrong here, for an experienced high-rated dealer to be selling such a coin at this price. The portrait is stiff and not correct. I say the perfect candidate for faking, and this is it.

1) I think the coin has had some repair work done at the 12 o'clock position on the obverse. Maybe a loop removal?

2) Why is this coin not in a TPG slab? (See #1 above!)

3) The listing title and picture says it is a 55-S but the listing discription specifics says it's an "1858S" from the "Philadelphia" mint. Strange, but might be just some listing typos.

I don't know much about these, but it looks to be repaired/damaged in four places, 12, 4, 6 and 8 o'clock. Maybe an ex jewelry piece or something

Looks genuine, just had a lot of work done on it. Too bad it's not an auction, would be interesting to see what it goes for. It's been cleaned too

the 5's in the date look wrong.

On the examples I looked at, the fives have a leaner curve at the bottom ending with a smallish ball. The balls on this one are blob-ish.

And I see what I believe is evidence of abrasive cleaning on the obverse.

I think you all are seeing exactly what I'm seeing. This appears to be a holed/plugged/repaired coin.
