So I'm on facebook on October 10th, and a friend posts that he got two 1964 quarters in change at a local Mexican fast food restaurant... I DM with him and find the place - it's in a mall which includes one of my dump banks, a buy bank, and a Coinstar... since it was nearly closing time, I make a mental note..

The next day, I hit the place as it opens... I make a small purchase but I don't hear any strange noises from the cashier's drawer...

I run some errands, and come back a few hours later, just after a new person begins cashiering. A couple of young girls are in front of me, and they get something and as I hear the door open, I HEAR the silver quarters! I go up and ask for a water and then asked for change for $1... Sure enough, I get a 1964-D quarter. I ask him for $5 more dollars worth of quarters, and I get 5 more silver quarters - a 1961-D and four more 1964-Ds!!

I ended up cleaning out his change, and giving him a couple of dollars back...

Yes, 6 silver quarters thanks to a friend's facebook post! Yes, I went back a few more times, but that was all they had.

Inspired, I hit my goto bank there and bought $300 worth of quarters... actually did find a 1964-D amongst them. SO I ended up 7 silver quarters richer thanks to my friend's tip!

Thanks, aristarchus!

I am very persistent!

And here's that 1964-D I found in the 30 rolls bought at my nearby bank...

Thanks,T-BOP!

I'm guessing they may have been part of a hoard of coins someone turned in at one of my local banks. I found out that someone had turned in a bunch of coins (cents, nickels, dimes, quarters) to my goto bank by there a couple of weeks earlier. By the time I got there, all they had left were 58 bankwrapped rolls of cents. Yes, I may have missed out on something really huge, but what can you do?

As for the cents, they were in old style bank wrappers, and nothing was dated after 1974. I found 44 wheats and a couple of BU rolls of 1973-D and 1974-D cents. Still sorting through them and hoping for a 1970-S small date to turn up. I'll post about them at a future date.
