I recently won a bid on two rolls of 1970 s BU LMC's. the only coin worthy of keeping (or so I thought) was a spike head. Well, I decided to look through them again with Wexler's up on the screen and looked at the date and thought MD but decided to look for markers. I'll be darn, found all of them!

Oh yea, It's also a floating roof!

Had to look that one up. It seems to be the same die. But I question if that is really hub doubling on the top as it doesn't match any part of the hubs design? But I don't make those calls. The Machine Doubling has nothing to do with the hub doubling. Just a case where MD is on a variety coin. (it happens)

It just seems like the hub doubling should be more like the hubs design:

I agree Coop! I'm glad you chimed in! I was actually looking at a different 70s when I saw the WDDO-24 and I remembered writing this one off as MD. I started going through the rolls again until I found it and begin looking for markers. I really was quite surprised to find all of them. However I still do not see where the doubling is to be honest. Coin in hand, the mark above the seven looks more like a small die chip to me. After my excitement level started to lower a bit I too begin to question it.
If you would like to use theses pics as an example you may (Why, I don't know ).

Thanks for those pics, I would of absolutely written that off as Machine Doubling and just been frustrated. I feel like the king of Machine Doubling sometimes.
Thanks again

Lol, I feel the same way. If MD's were highly sought after and valuable, I would be a wealthy man

I'm going to go through the rolls again for the third time just in case I missed something the first two times . I have found about a dozen or so floating roofs, no major premium, but fun to find.

Nice floating roof, but I am not convinced this is a DDO!

Chase007, I some what agree with you! If it wasn't for the fact that all the markers match Wexler's WDDO-24 I would probably agree with you %100. As I mentioned earlier, I still fail to see were it is doubled but it looks just like the one on doubled die.com.

Perhaps we should take a poll and see who agrees that it should be omitted as a DDO and deleted from Wexler's site
I haven't had time to check all the sites, but other one I did check, and I can't remember for the life of me right now which site, did not list it.

I'm also not sure of all the sites to check. If someone would be so kind as to list all or some known sites I would appreciate it! Thank you!

Thank you spruett001! I completely forgot about that one.

Coop, I'm assuming that you are referring to John Wexler? I was thinking about emailing him.
For someone still learning about doubled die coins, this one seems to go against what I have learned here so far.

I sent an email to John Wexler this morning asking him for information and explanation on this listed DDO. I specifically asked where exactly is the doubling etc... I will post his reply as soon as I get his response.
