Is this 68s the FS101 ( CONECA DDO-001?)

It looks like a match to coin #4 listed as the 1968 S Pr. FS101 on the PCGS Site.

Any member's out there have this coin in their collection for a comparison?

Thanks for any help/input on this!

chuckster 125,
Great pics. Two questions:is the coin golden in color or is your white balance off? Question 2; are you still sane after taking all those pics of a proof coin ? It is way difficult taking pics of proof coins.

Certainly looks like you've correctly identified that variety.

Super duper great detailed photos. Try white balance adjustment if you have that option.

I have to say no. On the FS-101 you can see a notch on the 'R' on TRUST and no notch on the 'E' on LIBERTY.

Hi coop.

http://www.PCGScoinfacts.com/CoinIm...spx?s=147208

Please check coin # 2 (PR66 # 26424927) and coin # 7 (PR64 # 24818518 on their list.

Full screen image shows a notch on the E and no notch on the R on both coins, but especially on the last coin.

Still holding out that this coin could be a FS 101.

Guess only way to be sure is send it in for attribution.

I'm checking now. But the 101 in the CPG mention a DDO on Date and LIBERTY. Note the LIBERTY on the one I posted. The last few letters are doubled very strong. I'm working now on the angle of mint mark locations. I see three different images posted on that site. The Notching on 'R' and RTY strong on one die. Your coin showing the notching on the tops of the ERTY. They even have a different one listed with no doubling at all. So something is messed up with this on the site. So back to the mint mark locations to see if they are close or are different.

Ok, the locations of the mint marks are close:

But the examples posted on the PCGS site are not from the same dies. Looks like they are view MD as hub doubling. The CPG that lists the numbers for the FS numbers, mention doubling on LIBERTY and date. But no mention of the enlarged motto with the definite notch on the 'R' on TRUST. But here is a side by side of of the affected LIBERTY letters. That should be the considering factor as to what die they are referring to as FS-101:

Now to make a side by side of the dates.
Here are these results. The Date on the 'R' notched is the real DDO-001 FS-101. Looks like the other two are just graded and attributed incorrectly MD examples.

That is why we dig deeper. Variety Vista didn't have images up for any of their dies. Maybe they saw the issue as well, or they may not have this page done yet. Now we know.

Just noticed on Wexler's site he show images of the same doubling on the FS-101 CONECA DDO-001. So looks like PCGS messed up on several of their attributions.

Every new thing I learn, I pass it on. Seems odd they didn't catch that. But it is what it is.

I'm thinking about sending PCGS/attribution Dept etc a letter about these 2 coins to see if they would verify/confirm etc if these are indeed the FS-101 or just MD.

I'd hate to be the owner of either of these coins only to find out they are not what they thought they really were!

Thanks again Rich,

Chuck.

You can send my images if that would help. Who ever attributed them should pay for the difference in value.
