Many times we run across the 1972 cents and always check for doubled dies. We wonder is this one? One way I've identified a way to speed the process is to look at just one device. There seems to be a common thread on these dies, 1-9 that is a quick thing to look for. What is that. On the 9 in the date there is something going on that I just discovered as a common thing. The upper left side of the 9 on the inside area of the curve at 10:00 is altered a bit. Here is what I've noted on these:
1972-Cent-Doubled-Dies-:-A-New-To-Way-To-Search.
The normal dies have a almost circular curve on that inner area of the 9. The double dies have an indent on to make a corner at 10:00. When you see them side by side you can see this happening on these dies. I've been find some great images of these doubled dies this year and noted this was true for all 1-9 dies. The Master die doubled dies have a slight distortion there, but nothing like the big dies have. So this will help make your search easier and more productive. Happy hunting. I expect to see a lot more of these varieties on here very soon. The next problem, how to identify them.... Another day.

That's great, Coop! It looks pinched. Can't wait to get my 70s tubes out and hopefully find some that I missed.
Rest in Peace
