His biography came out just a short time ago and Heritage just auctioned part of his collection. It too bad there will not be more to add to it. He was a true numismatist.

He was expert in a number of exonumic fields in addition to his numismatic legacy. He sent me a group of rare and unique tokens via uninsured first class mail to photograph for one of my books.

If the package had been lost 22 unique tokens (only one known of each) would have been lost. I sent them back registered.

An honest to goodness gentleman. I will never miss his expertise because he shared that with me so that I could carry some of that knowledge forward.

But I will very much miss him.

RIP, the man had a great eye for coins, and we are all better off for his contributions.

I am almost embarrassed to say that I had never heard of him before these threads. Maybe he was not so well known in Canada or I just didn't pay attention.

I was sad to hear this too. Obviously the man had built up an unthinkable collection over his lifetime and also spent much of his time furthering his philanthropic interests. I recently heard that he has a numismatic museum near where I live here in St. Louis, but I'm not sure if that's true.

This might be what you heard about. It's in St. Louis, not sure if there is a physical museum you can visit, though.

The numismatic museum is in the lower level of the art museum on the campus of Washington University.
