I don't know if this is some kind of strike through but it does not budge when I press on it with my fingernail and it is very hard. Not sure if it has something to do with the marks near the rim.

@OJC, that is an interesting schnoz. I agree that the pattern of damage is pretty similar for both areas.

Incuse (sunk into the design) on the coin, coin damage. No matter what happened, it is still a damaged coin.
