It's been the November to remember in the clash CRH. Today gave a version of TDC-1c-1990-01 from maddieclashes.

Is it indented? look like it is and seems to extend onto face. If it does, it is a vise job. The Bays would stick up in an actual clash and the step/roof/ corners wouldn't be present. looks like a stain even like from glue, try an acetone bath.

The face doesn't feel indented.
Would a vise job squish the date? It's raised.
I'll try acetone bath for it. Thanks

I think it is a stain on the plating caused by glued together coins or just a dirty contact. See the true example, becaues dies are Mirror image (devices are incuse in die, that imprint would reverse the image, making a bar like appearance where the indented bays are on a normal coin.

A vise job would affect the higher parts of the receiving coin - the devices - first. Where are the marks on the devices on this coin?

This one shows a clash - and heavy die polishing to remove the artifacts of that clash - of the entire height of the Memorial. There is no way you could get those marks onto the fields of a coin in a vise without destroying the date, chin, ear and cheek from the eye down.
Rest in Peace

I would love to see pics of a Lincoln clashed so hard the steps showed. That's titanic.

You'll see the memorial base extend from just below his forehead comes off back off head too but picture isn't great. Steps can be seen off the bridge of his nose. Strong profile clash on reverse extending below memorial.

I appreciate the clarification about the heavy die polishing, SsuperDdave. That explains the ghosting of the original clash.

My initial thoughts, as well. They polished the heck out that but, still couldn't remove all of the evidence!

There's no way this is a vise job. The reverse looks to have heavy die-polishing as well.

@Slamnbass

Excellent example!

Great job on the pics. A clash can be a bear to light for pics. I have found clashes with that ghosting effect. Excellent find!

Another great find and an excellent discussion that holds more value than simple agreement.
