Personally, I like the State and America the Beautiful Quarters, so I hope they continue the latter series for another round. If nothing else, if gives us the possibility of more errors to look for! :)

I think extending these for another round would put the nail in the coffin for me as it would totally kill the quarter denomination. IMO, ATB should have never happened. Need to go back to a regular ONE design coin. I don't know about anyone else but mint and proof sets are just too bloated.

On one hand, there have been some very nice designs in the ATB series. But, I must agree with Force - it's time to give the quarter a rest. Go back to one design. But make it epic! I guess the dime is next. Every other denomination has had a special run.

TheForce, I agree with you, its getting excessive. The State Quarter program was good overall, even though many of the designs were not very good. It did bring more interest into coins, and no doubt created lots more coin collectors that are here to stay. I'm just concerned that the Mint may be doing more harm than good, and that at least for modern coins, this may turn out to be like the sports card market of the 90's, when the product was just severely over produced and pretty much killed it, many collectors just gave up.

I love the idea, but the execution sucks. Too many design details for the small space, and details that look fine in the large plaster models (and the 5 oz pucks), just don't scale down.
There have been a few designs that made good use of negative/blank space, but they are the exception not the rule.

Bstrauss brings up another good point. Just like good music and prose, there is value in what is left out as well (caesura.) No need to fill every last area on a coin. Leave a little field for us to evaluate!

I like the coin program, always look forward to seeing the new designs.
I know the quarter program has brought many new collectors into the hobby.

I could go for another round, but would be okay with a normal design.
