Looks original, on the dark side. This common Morgan is available in all MS grades, with or without colorful rainbow tone. The toning on this circulated example would not add any extra value.

looks crusty and original to me. You have to be careful with those black areas of toning, though. I've seen some coins recently that graded ED.

Just curious if you tend to have a thing for circulated Morgans? 1882-S is all known for being one of the generally best struck in the whole series and in large numbers. Finding a beautiful UNC for entry level money is pretty easy. My LCS was offering a good looking, probably ~a MS62, for $40 yesterday.

Quite original to my mind, and rather an interesting coin since 1881-S is known for such huge populations in Mint State grades. Not often you see a circulation cameo example.

vf30. looks original but still worth melt. title seems to differ from coin's date.

I see no signs that indicate it's not original toning. Very nice looking coin. Make sure you're getting a good price on it as other's have stated it's a common date.

dave700x and jbuck and Collects82, the coin is an 1881-S, my bad. My Morgan dollar set is VF/XF and I have lots of UNC morgans but find myself really attracted to circulation cameo coins, all types and denoms.
