I've been searching for doubled dies for a while now and have found hundreds of minor ones not listed on any website out there. So instead of spending months to years sending these all in to Wexler or Wiles (which, don't get me wrong, I'll still send coins to them and support them) or spamming this forum with tons of topics about each minor doubled die I get, I decided to make my own website showing pictures of various die varieties and die markers that go with them.
www.crdievarieties.com
So far, I've only completed the modern (2006-present)
Jefferson nickels and I still need pictures for about 33 varieties. However, I have information and links to other sites for 111 Modern
Jefferson nickel doubled dies. 78 of those do have pictures and 52 are not listed anywhere else!
This site doesn't organize varieties into an arbitrary numerical order but organizes them into "styles" so similar looking varieties are in the same place. I know this may be difficult to get used to, but I've found it useful.
If you have a chance, please look around on the site. I would be grateful if you gave suggestions and pointed out typos, errors, or bugs in the code (I coded this all by hand, no WYSIWYG editors. Just typing hundreds of lines of HTML.)
I already know of two bugs that cannot be fixed easily, if at all:
1. On iOS devices, bold fonts look doubled. This is a bug with iOS, I cannot fix this.
2. The appearance of sites on different screen resolutions. My computer has a very large screen resolution and did not take this into account while making this site. On smaller screen resolutions the webpage may be too wide to fit completely on the screen. I cannot fix this without changing the resolution of
every image on the site. If this is a problem for you, there are options in most browsers to zoom out, this should fix it.
Lastly, I am in no way trying to replace any existing website. My website, as it says on the home page, is to make it easier to attribute die varieties and to create a complete and hopefully accurate cross-reference of all the major die variety files, hence the name Cross-Referenced Die Varieties.
