My latest medallion, this representing 18 years successful membership in the fellowship founded by Bill Wilson and Bob Smith in the '30s. Given to me last Monday night.

Apology for the rotation, I tried to correct in two diff programs but neither worked in spite of showing correctly in them.

999fine, I knew that mugshot of yours had something to do with why you look so happy, Congratulations!
I'm in the club! Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays and whatever.
First one is my actual first 1 year medallion from 1987 and I don't ever want another 1 year.
That was a tough one for sure.
( Notice the AA in the middle on the back, they aren't allowed to do that for quite a long time now )

I don't brag, its ODAAT and BFTGOG for me.
I keep my latest in my wallet. One of my sponsees always asks me if I carried my coin today.
Long ago I met an oldtimer who had 35 years or something and I said,
"Boy, I wish I had 35 years!" and he asked me how old I was at 29. Then he asked me "Do you wish you were 64 years old?"

So enjoy the journey 999 and we're livin the dream!
My most important medals

1909 Hudson-Fulton
Half Moon & Clermont
So-Called Dollar
Bronze HK 384 Small Letters

A-Continuing-Thread-~-Post-Your-Tokens,-Medals,-Exonumia-Acquisitions
To commemorate 300th anniversary of discovery of Hudson River and centenary of successful steamboat navigation.
Tributes paid Hendrik Hudson and Robert Fulton.
Program staged by Hudson-Fulton Celebration Commission.
While New York City played leading role, other communities all along Hudson, up to headwaters at Troy, took active parts. Held Sept. 25 to Oct. 11, 1909, 17 days.
Opened with Naval Parade accompanying replicas of Half Moon and Clermont up Hudson to foot of 110th Street. Here was reenacted Hendrik Hudson's landing on Manhattan Island. Highlights of following days were Reception for foreign guests at Metropolitan Opera House, three great parades (Historical, Military and Carnival), Official Banquet at Astor Hotel and dedication of permanent memorials at 15 points throughout city.
As I have another official looped medal issued by American Numismatic Society struck in silver-plated bronze that were placed on public sale. My story on the celebration can be read there with this link.

TNG very nice. And I always appreciate the history.

Do you think our society and culture still celebrate past achievements the way we used to?

I'm not saying you guys have me hooked, but my interest is medals is certainly there. The seller of this had it listed both under medals and stamps, the latter where I found it. I bit because of the documentation that came with it. It is apparently a common medal, one of the most common of the Pony Express medals.

Fun.

The Hudson-Fulton was a huge celebration including US-issued stamps and the post card industry created some gorgeous cards as well.
