Plucked on the cheap today from a group of world coin culls. With a mintage of 4.8 million, this is far from a rarity, but it's nevertheless unusual to find such with some original luster extant and minimal (if any) wear.

I actually see a lot of those Mexican 1 centavos with little wear, admittedly more often in the 1930s or 40s.

I like the Eagle and snake designs.

Certainly not my experience - in this region, these got spent.

While the mintage in 1923 was among the higher ones for that period, the issues of the 1930's & 40's were generally struck in truly enormous quantities, like 10, 20, or 30 million, and in 1946 over 42 million.
