I bought this one for $10 shipped, thought it was interesting. I found an indian that had the same stamping that sold for a little over $50.

Anyone know the whole story about them? I assume it was pressed like the modern day cent machines are, but I didn't know they did it way back in 1893!!

Great buy at that price, Drew. This "rolled nickel" was pressed at the Expo for someone wnting a souvenir. Rolled Indian cents and Liberty nickels tend to be the most commonly seen coins. The higher denomination coins will command higher prices, nowadays. IMHO, your nickel should retail for about three times your purchase price.

Well maybe that's why they are so expensive to buy - most of them were rolled for the Expo

Elongated collectors generally believe that the 1893 Columbian Exposition coins were the first. You can read about them here:

Sorry, I don't get that. It's an 1887. It would be worse if it was an 1885.
