This should help. I believe the 88-D is rarer.

In my opinion the first cent is missing too much of the initials to be certain either way, and the second cent is a 005.

I happened to round up a few of those myself today after reading up on the 1988's and the topic subject of this thread. It's always good to post your sources so this is where I had gotten mine:

http://www.Lincolncentresource.com/...988RDV6.html

I brought three examples of each of the two coins in question to my LCS. My guy wasn't aware of the issue with the 1988's but fortunately he was about to be on his way to the Vegas Coin Show. Apparently there is a "Penny Lady" who is guru in all things related to the beloved coin. He took my coins with him in order become better informed.

As far as MM and availability of the coins I wouldn't have the slightest information off hand. I'm 8 hours from Denver so of course I'm loaded with Philadelphia coins. JK.

Take care.

Mrzllewellyn,
Both of your coins look to be 005 and the Denver is the rarer one.

The first one is a 005. The location of the top of the 'G' is farther east. Also another fact to me is that the 006 dies are usually in the early die states. (they were a replacement because the 005s wore out. So when I see a worn "FG" it has always been an 005. Even on the image where they copied the design of the 'G' in black, I still can see the east tip of the 'G'.
