45, but the black on the skirt would turn me away. There are plenty of coins without distractions. Why buy one with an eye grabbing "problem".

could go AU50 details. if it was mine I would conservatively grade it XF45 details

XF-45 and likely a straight grade. The original surfaces are nice but the black crust hurts eye appeal. This is a common coin and defect-free examples are available. I wouldn't buy this one.

Looks like maybe the gunk might just be cleaned out. Have you tried acetone? The overall color is quite original.

The problem is you have to crack it out and then take the risk it won't look worse after removing the gunk.

EF-45 details. The reverse rim is pretty chewed up at the 12 O'clock position.
