Quote: Go figure the Chinese figured the American collector will want a LC date album that can be completed as compared to Dansco that has varieties listed in it too!! Designed in USA, made in China. Quote: I expect Whitman to know that. They did, which is why they went for the largest possible size. It is easier to shim that shave.

I use that same Album. Only I purchased mine many years ago and so far all holes are OK. OR maybe I get coins that are made to fit. Since I go to a lot of coin shows, I was able to get almost all of them in short period of time. All that is except a few on that first page. Makes for a heavy Album. At one coin show a dealer had several tables of just Large Cents and almost all in UNC or better. Of course his prices were a bit out of this world too. Another dealer told me he is famous for all those Large Cents.

It you mess up a shim, you make another shim. If you mess up the shave, you have to replace a page or an album.

Quote: I expect Whitman to know that. The problem is when you are striking coins without a collar every coin is a different size. After 1836 when they started using a close collar all the coins are the same size. It looks like they made all the pages with just the large size holes. Probably did that so they just had to make one type of page and then add the dates. If they made them for proper fit they would need three different page types. Large holes for the first two pages, small holes for the fourth page, and both large and small on the third page.

Quote: Which one of these do you think would work best? What are you going to use them for? I kinda like the black ringed air tites. I use them for silver dollars, Silver maple leafs, and silver eagles. Then I just use the regular air tites for cents

Oh, when I clicked on the ling first it came up air tite capsules then now it's albums. The reason I went with Whitman is cause it didn't contain all the varieties just a date album. I'd go broke or never get it done if I went with the Dansco. If you use black foam it's hard to see and the gap in the holes really isn't too bad.
