Welcome to the CCF! We would need clearer photos to give a better opinion. But it most likely took a hit.

Thanks for the reply and welcome! I will try to get better photos. I'll see if I already have a clearer one.

to CCF. It looks like a P mint mark that took a hit. As far as I know OMM's stopped in the 1950's. John1

Something odd about the "3". Maybe a die crack?

Well, I've learned my lesson about getting excited before asking the experts. My interest in coins started a few months ago after finding a 1909 V nickel and a 1945 War Nickel in the cash register. After that the hunt was on, and I can't stop searching for the next treasure. My husband thinks I look like Scrooge obsessing over my piles of coins. Thanks again for all the replies and welcomes. I've been using this site for info and am glad people are nice enough to respond to my question. I have a lot to learn. I need a better way to examine and photograph coins. Any recommendations for a good, comfortable to use magnifying glass that isn't very small and good for photography?

My first magnifying glass was the one at office Depot that you hold then it unfolds and stands up has 2 led lights and it's like 5x then the little thing is 20x I believe but I was able to photograph pretty well with it I use to do my whole coin pics with it it worked good my 2 year old broke it lol but yeah that's my recommendation then you will want loops and USB microscopes and I even got a pocket microscope that I use every ones in a while when I don't want to bust the computer out
