It appears there is a number 3 on Lincolns Chin? Was this strike of a 3 done on purpose at the mint and slipped through? Also this coin has never been cleaned and a number 7 may be appearing under the Date covered by some green Foreign Object Debris. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Lincoln took a hit on his chin which pushed the divots that make it appear to be a 3. Almost took his chin clean off. Compare the chin to a normal cent.

The corrosion is not repairable. It is best spent. Although keeping it only costs a cent.

I agree, and that corrosion is only gonna get worse.

Looks like a rim ding from a reeded coin to me.
