I'm back. I hope that the image comes out alright. I've done a little more research on the dime and figured out that it has a planchet problem. Is there anything else going on?

Lightning die crack and strike through. Not certain on the strike through because of the weird dog leg at the perimeter.

It looks like something stuck the coin to me. Look at the parallel lines from just below the you in UNITED to the torch.

@stevieb, could you give your dime a bath in acetone or pick at it with a wooden toothpick? That kinda looks like dried superglue to me.

When I enlarged your pic it looked more like glue than an error.

I agree, acetone will not hurt the coin and could help remove whatever is on it.

Thanks for your help friends. It will break my heart if it's glue but I'm off to the store to get some acetone.

Do not let it break your heart. Remember the lesson you have learned and let that carry you forward.

Keep it though because you have a nice size Die Crack on the reverse.

my guess was glue. I have a 1942 Walking Liberty half that was glued to a money clip, looks just like that.
