I have this 1991 D Kennedy half with a finish I've never seen before. I have paired it with a 2001 D for comparisons sake. The reeding is extremely sharp. Any thoughts on why this coin has an almost mirror like finish? I got this coin in change about a week ago.

One of the first few thousand off the die pair with little circulation?
Rest in Peace

. There was no special runs done. New dies have a polished field area and distinct detail w/sharp edges. The first few off the die pairs will be like the SMS issues of 65-67, a mirror finished field. Certain high dollar coin outfits( those TV guys). Will buy these from the mint as "first strikes" and slab them as MS70/69's and make a killing with gullible sheeple!
