I know nothing about this -- my best guess is that it's medieval and possibly a jeton. Can anybody identify it? Thanks.

Have you looked at Portugal? Reminds me of some Portuguese coppers from the 15th and 16th centuries. Maybe Alfonso V?

Bob, as usual, I think that you are on the right pathway. The rev pic certainly looks like the three towers seen on Spanish/Portuguese coins. I'm not seeing an exact match in my Celmente y Cayon, but it gotta be there somewhere.

I'm pretty sure it's Alfonso like Bob said. Numista has several close examples. The link below should get you to the Portugal page which covers Alfonso V.
