Hello everyone, I'm contiplating bidding on this 1884 CC Morgan and would like your opinion as to what you would grade it as well as how much you would be willing to pay for it. Thank you!

Going by the small photos, I will say MS65.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but....

These are scans, which by definition cannot offer evidence regarding surface originality. They seem to indicate a relative lack of luster - luster tends to show up as "dark" on scans - but that's not definitive. In addition, these images are less than half the size required for sufficient detail to draw conclusive opinion, so any grade offered is based on incomplete information.

Here are the images from the auction itself, which are slightly larger than those already presented:

With all the above said, I'm still seeing a pretty nice coin. I would not venture into MS65 territory for it, even if it ultimately might be worthy of the grade, because there is simply too little to go on. The "graininess" on the cheek could be either inconsequential or disqualifying; no way to tell.

And if the bid was at $73, a bid has been retracted because it's at $66 right now.

Thank you SsuperDdave! I did copy the pics from the same site so I don't understand what they are bigger. Also, my mistake on the $73 bid as I am currently looking at two coins to bid on. This one is at $66, the other coin is a slabbed 1963 half PR67. I apologize for the mistake and thank you for bringing it to my attention!

If it were me, I'd be contemplating it as a pretty good 64 for purchase purposes, understanding that liquidating it easily would require a slab, which would involve another $50 in sunk costs to get it there. 1884-CC is the most common Carson City Morgan in Mint State due to almost the entire mintage being released in the GSA sales, so you can afford to be quite picky when selecting one.

A valuable lesson learned.

Perhaps raw MS64 bid?
For me, I would do max of few dollars over $100.

I'm liking it as MS-64 and would consider it a sweet deal at $125 or so. Luster looks pretty strong IMO.
