This 2008W with the 2007 Reverse

This 2008W with the 07 Reverse has been graded MS69 by PCGS
Question: Is the tiny tick mark in the pics on the reverse acceptable and not take away from the grade/value? That's the only thing I could find on the coin.

*If this little tick wasn't there, would this have been graded a MS70?

I normally do not deal with slabbed coins, so any expertise is greatly appreciated on this.

Thanks.

Without more pictures or the coin in hand there's no way to tell. Most ASE strikes will grade MS69 if they're left in the mint capsule and weren't mishandled at the mint.

PCGS rarely gives out a 70 and this year it's veryrare. I'd be happy with the MS69 from what I see.

I'm not looking for this coin to be a MS70- I'm very happy its a MS69

I'm just questioning if its ok to have this on the coin.

In other words- do other 2008W Silver Dollars with the 2007 Reverse that have been graded by PCGS as MS69 have similar imperfections.

Yes, it's normal for the coins to have those imperfections. Remember that the graders are not magnifing these like you are and probably never saw them. Micro grading will make you crazy, look at the coin in hand and enjoy it's beauty.

One of the reasons I never got too interested in errors and varieties. I obsessed over the normal imperfections I saw under magnification.

I do know that the location of the mark can have an effect on the grade. i.e. marks that are kind of hidden among the lettering might not have as much of a detrimental effect on the final grade as say a mark across the face, or one in the middle of a big open "field".
