How much longer do you think that the reverse die lasted? Notice that the east side of the top of the reverse is level with rim of the coin. Still Lookin

Oh boy! Now there's your "sunken die" error! That may have been the last coin off that reverse die for sure. Great find!

If it wasn't last coin, unusual possibility of just about to start a reverse die cap!

Holy cow that's huge! Did this just pop out of a bankroll? That's a awesome find! The die didn't last much longer after this. Catastrophic Die Failure was most likely one strike away.

I just found it tonight from a bank bag of cents. I have found a few rim to rim die cracks but none with the displacement that is shown on this coin.

I haven't seen this failing die before. It presents and unusual combination of brittle failure and plastic deformation. First of all, you've got a rim-to-rim die crack that is bi-level (stepped) in its northern half. It's here that the die sank in on the right. The die crack is straddled by a small die chip and. below that, a larger, elongated retained interior die break (or just something short of it). Again, this is where some of the die metal sank in. A very neat discovery.

The retained interior die break is raised above the level of the height of the columns. The die chip above that is actually raised above the rims. I placed the coin in a 2X2 and that die chip is actually forcing the clear material up. Still Lookin
