The mint marks were hand punched into the die, not the coin.

Even if by some obscure chance you are right, it would have
had to be punched after the coin was minted so it would still be PMD

My guess is someone either was testing out at letter punch (the kind every old guy used to keep to stamp their initials on their tools) or like someone said, really disliked JFK. Still worth a couple bucks in silver anyways.

Almost anything is possible, but in this case it is highly improbable. Regardless, as indicated above it happened after the coin was struck and therefore PSD.

As said it had to have been done after the coin was struck so no matter who did it or where it is still PSD. And if a D punch had bee used the marks would BE D's not just "D" shaped.
