Thanks for all your help everyone . I was offered $20 for it on facebook . Think I'll hold on to it and case it better as recommended . If only I could find the 2 other books of coins my father put together over the years . It brings back a lot of memories sitting around the kitchen table sorting through coins picking out silver and defects like this .

I thinks it's worth more than $20. When coop gets Mike Diamond to look at something you know you've got something unusual. You might want to save Crazyb0's explanation. You got the attention of the experts... well done.

I stand in full respect to Mike Diamond views on this coin ... he is the 'expert' I referred to and truly the best CCF (and world) resource for solving these issues.
Thanks Mike ....
To the OP ... suggest you save this away for more than the $20 currently offered.

thanks again for all your help since I am not really a coin collector is it ok to offer it up here to someone who would appreciate it more . I have no clue what it may be worth and would rather it go to a member here .

@budmanr, here are the rules for selling on CCF: http://goccf.com/t/221419That is a great sentiment, but it looks like you will need to stick around a little bit before you can sell it here.

You are not allowed to sell here yet. Check ebay sold values for something close to your coin. You may want to hang onto it for a while. John1

You can ask what it is worth, but you cannot sell just yet. That being said, as John said above, the completed sales on ebay is one of the best sources for determining value.

do you think it would be a good idea to send coin to have verified and graded . also about what the cost would be to do so ?

You can find out the cost of getting the coin verified and graded by visiting any of the sites that offer that service. Don't forget there are extra costs for an error coin as well as shipping, tracking, and insurance.
Unless you have a compelling reason to get it slabbed, I don't know why you would bother. Just print out the pages of this thread to keep with the coin. The error has already been verified by our usual on site experts along with a post from Mike Diamond. He is a respected error coin author. (Do a search with his name + error coins).
