Maybe? If you found 5 of these like this, then I would think it's a Struck Through. But I will wait for the others to chime in though.

You're welcome. It is indeed strange. Did the die strike something brittle to cause this? I want to see what Mike Diamond thinks of this. Do you want me to PM Mike Diamond for you? Let me know and I will. :)

If it is replicating, it is on the recesses of the die. Die damage of some sort. Something has caused the damage from/during a previous strike, a polishing grease plug or other debris was possibly struck through causing the die damage and making a reverse image of that on a coin as a struckthru previously, just one, these are the resultant.

Crazyb0, I am pretty sure you just nailed this one! Makes a lot of sense. Always good to hear from you! Uruman, make sure to keep all 5 of these and label them in a 2x2 coin flip for protection. Great find! I will watch out for these when coin roll hunting.

I found 10 dimes with a little spot that has that same texture on the obverse I thought it was a grease spot.

Could it be from a rusty die?

You would probably have to see them side by side to see they are exactly the same. Is so, then it might be a rust issue on the die. If they are slightly different, it could be from another strike through issue.
