@BW, first welcome to CCF. Second, that is a very interesting piece that you have there. If it is an ancient coin, then it is unlike any other one that I have seen. This looks much more like a locker ticket or perhaps a lead seal. I'm going to recommend to the mods that it be moved to a place where more eyeballs will see it and hopefully someone can get you a better answer!

thank you my friend. Sure is nice to have a welcome like that. How can I follow and be notified everytime someone posts on my topic? I guess I'm asking the easiest method of following it are there notifications I can set? after admit this is fun. By the way are the State Quarters worth looking at? I have quite a few here and have been spending too much time looking at the internet to see whaterrors may be out there. Also have some Australian coins that are interesting Jamaican Zimbabwe andSouth Africa any advice sure would be appreciated

@BW, if you click on the little gold star at the top of this thread, it will bookmark it for you and then you can follow up it. Otherwise, you can just come back to CCF periodically today and over the next few days as more folks weigh in on what you've got. I think that you can learn a huge amount by lurking in some of the various forums and judiciously using the search function. For example, you mentioned that you have some Australian coins. On CCF, there are multiple sections concerning the coins, paper currency, and commemoratives of Australia here: http://goccf.com/c/19

I am not familiar with the item you posted, but about following the thread, you can subscribe to the topic. You can do that by clicking topic subscription above the 1st post in any topic. You will then get emails whenever a new comment is posted.

"With this (curtain) ring I thee wed." Not a coin, certainly not ancient. I am thinking a wool bale seal, but that is a calculated guess.

Defiantly a hem weight. Used to hold dresses down. As a detectorist I've found a few myself but never in the fabric like yours lol.

As you can see, it is cut out of the seam of a skirt and was used to hold down the skirt. (Would have been usefull for Marilyn Monroe)
