I am weighing up my 40%'s, did 100 of them and they are from 11.20-11.80 the majority 11.35-11.50, I did find one that is 11.10 however I found a 1967 that weighs 12.55 grams, checked it 3 times and re-calibrated the scale, still 12.55 I weighed 9 of my 90% from this year and they are 12.40 to 12.55 and one at 12.70 The fact that the 1967 is actually heavier than most of the 90%ers what is going on? Where would I get a specific gravity test or should I take a chance and send it to PCGS or ANACS to see if it is in fact a wrong planchet?

@BC, there are several sets of instructions and demos for determining the specific gravity of your coins on CCF. Just use those two keywords in the search box at the top left of your screen. Here is one of my favorites (kudos to @swamperbob): http://goccf.com/t/24689#201659

Well, this is interesting. I do no know if there were 90% silver error strikes for 1967, but I am sure someone else does.

ANACS asked me to send a picture of it both sides so I did. RCNH in NH has a special machine that can do a non-invasive test to determine if it is 90%, they do that for gold due to the incidence of fakes. They don't charge for it, and I would be a chance to check out their inventory. I am going to make an appointment to meet with them, they are about 90 minutes away from here.

My luck it is just some weird heavy planchet. Like when I had a stamp that without a grill was $3k but with it, it is $300, 4 people couldn't see a grill but the certification co. could so it was only worth $300 (of course I got it in a book that cost me $50)
I started CRHing last month after a several year hiatus and have found 9 90% Kennedy's and 54 40% plus this one by searching CWR MWR and loose coins.
Also 45 silver dimes from several $1,000 bank coin counter bags, but the banks shut me down on those.

That would be so cool if it were struck on a 1964 planchet. It would confuse me, but still cool.

what I have heard is that sometimes the mint strikes coins for other countries and have heard of planchets getting there incorrectly that way.
That would be the only way I could think of it other than someone at the mint creating an error on purpose, after all it wouldn't be like the silver would sit there for years.
That is why I think that it might not be an error
