I posted some of my finds from a box I just finished in the Coin Roll Hunting section. I always it the damaged coins in a box I have set aside. When I first saw this particular LMC it looked as if someone buffed or smoothed the obverse of this coin. After posting it some members suggested otherwise. They thought I should post it here for more opinions.

After taking a second look after the suggestion it looks to me like the rim is untouched and not damaged. Anyone else have any ideas? I took some pics in different light.

I think that might be a die adjustment strike, If it is That's a sweet find! Either way I'd hold onto it!

Your coin was struck with a capped die on the obverse. Note the flared rims?

Yep, Coop stands correct. It is a Capped Die. Great find! Finding stuff like this is rare, but some are out there still in circulation.

Wow! Thanks everyone. You guys/gals are always on point. I should pull out by little box of coins and see what else is in there. I'm always seeing coins posted the other way where members think they have errors and its damage. Happy to know it was the opposite for me with this one. Thanks again!

Great find @yanks21! Rather than chuck this back into a box with other oddball coins, I might spring for a 2x2 for storage.

Exceptional find, in the wild yet! Kudos! Mid-late stage die cap strikes where the cap is thinning to allow design thru!

Awesome find! But I'm having heart palpitations looking at the second and third pictures can you please hold the coin by the edges? The way you are holding it can leave ugly fingerprints that won't go away. Thank you very much!
