Hey, need some input on this coin. I was watching a youtube video on rare coins and I came accross a video that had the 1890 H Victorian 50 cent.It looked very similar to my coin so upon furthur research I found out its a quarter, late 1800. The coin is VERY worn down so I could never quite identify it, and I had only the last number which looks like a two and a very faint 7. But I'm pretty sure its 1872, anyway when I saw the design was similar. I got such a heart race I have been trying to figure out what this is for a while, anyway could I get some advice on the holes and whatnot I'm kinda new to this, good find or just a cool keepsake?

PS// sorry about the image quality, night time rn and cant get good lighting ill add some more tomorrow.

Usually, when you see 2 holes, someone used it as a button a long time ago .. but no one would use a 25 or 50 cent piece to use unless it was an emergency. Are you sure that it's a 50 cent piece (from the size)?

its a 25 cent I just sized it to a modern quarter and the leaves match up exactly on a late 1800 quarter, what you think now?

You've got a lump of sterling silver with 2 holes (formerly a quarter) worth melt value.

Scrap silver is about 10X face, so your coin would be worth a little over $2 Canadian because the weight would be much less than minted weight.

You have a scrap value coin minus two holes.
