Is this an error like a chip in the 9 on the die?

Looks like a die chip. Can you get a closer image of the 9?

Yup its a die chip in the 9 and also a die chip in the bottom of the R in liberty very common for that date. Next time try cropping all the stuff out but the coin and rotate it right side up

,it's a die chip but it doesn't add any value to the coin

to CCF. The die had a chip in it which left that piece of metal. Called a die chip.

Actually when the die chips, the metal breaks away from the die, leaving a void that is not formed. The chip is showing the void as a negative leaving a raised area on the coins. This void can get larger as the die crumbles away or remain the same until the die is retired.
