I found this in a circulated bankroll from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. I have looked over and over again and can't see or makeout the FG initials. What do you guys think? I do think I have one. Although, it is one ugly looking coin! The ugliest coin I have ever seen on a 1988.

Correct. Die was over polished. Even the statue is gone. JPU. (Just-Plain-Ugly)
Rest in Peace

Flared or not David!

Think you have one. Notice how thin the depth of the lower portion of the memorial. This shows just how much has been polished off the face. How about the bays, any clash left?

Crazyb0, I don't see any Die Clashes left. They most of gotten all of them. Unfortunately, the FG initials are still there, but very weak from all of the die polishing. I will still keep it though because it doesn't have the statue of Lincoln there.

It always makes me wonder if it's the transitional FG (the good one) or not. I have one too with no FG

Coppergold, there's only one way to tell if the initials are not there. Look at AM in America. If there a huge gap, then it's RDV-005. If it does have a gap, but isn't very wide, then it's RDV-006.

The 1988 cents with the heavy die wear are the RDV-005. I've yet to see a 1988 cent wth the RDV-006 with a weak reverse. They were fresh dies inserted into a transitional year, just to finish the run for that year. So if the FG is weak, then it is usually a 005. (That is what I've noticed)
