No. A Cud is when a piece of the die is broken off and it involves the edge of the coin. This looks like a stain.

Quote:is not a stain, is not a Cud is different error Well, I agree that it is not a Cud, but I am more thinking that this is a PMD surface condition--could be a stain, a water spot, adhesive residue, or even the spot where the green gunk was removed (but left behind below the date). I'm sure others will weigh in, but right now I don't see any reason to call this a mint error.

Loquixx, it is not an error. It's PMD (Post mint Damage). Maybe an improperly cleaned coin?

The mint surface is gone. Now whatever it was been around has altered the coin. So this is not a mint error. Very spendable....

Drink Pepsi, not Coke and this won't happen to your coin. It does appear slightly recessed, but the IN has been affected as well. Some corrosive has eaten away some surface metal, Coke does have a tendency to do this, left in cupholders, etc. No error, damage.

with coop ... an exciting 'find' perhaps in search of errors ... but this coin exhibits post-mint damage ( PMD) and is worth 1 cent.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art
