Correct me if I am wrong but the missing center section around the steps on the reverse is strike through or is it Die Deterioration? There is a die crack near "T" in CENT also.

Either Grease Fill, or light center strike, I would guess.

Note the polishing lines on the field behind 'T' on cent? The die was polished that may have weakened some devices, also grease on the dies were another issue. But the missing steps may have been caused by either a thinned planchette if the weight is under a bit, that maybe the cause. But I remember my teacher mentioned an issue that was in the back of my mind. He mentioned the Hub may have hubbed so deeply, the the metal was not able reach the steps design. So if the weight is normal, this may be the issue. So if several examples are found this year, that may have been the cause.
