I believe these are die chips but I have never seen so many scattered on a copper and they are all on the left side reverse only.

Hmm...I am used to seeing that on the newer Zincolns but I guess it can happen in the 5% Zinc of the 95% Copper ones too.

Not a plated coin so not gas bubbles. Looks like something on the surface like glue splatter. Try an acetone dip.

It's not chips, but something on the coin. Acetone will get organic (petroleum) crud but not all crud is organic. Just something else got on the coin, no mint error, post mint event.

Bedbug dung?

@SF11Dude, just a thought here-can you try to poke one of them off the surface of the cent with a wooden toothpick? That might dislodge debris that is stuck to the surface.

Notice the similar round shapes. If it were die chips you wouldn't see that many with the same shape.

It's simply splatter of some type.

Use a tooth pick and try to pluck that stuff off. I bet you money you can get it off with tooth pick.

Looks like something clear. Maybe peppered with some super glue. If tooth pick doesn't get it off an open flame will.

Yeah, it must be something stuck to the coin that wasn't affected by acetone. Try mechanical removal (toothpick, rose thorn).
